Tips to keep your hair in order during hotter days

Summer is very pleasant. However, it can be unpleasant when the temperature becomes overwhelmingly hot. Here are some tips for perfect summer hair.

The summer season brings its share of joys, but it also brings some disadvantages. Indeed, the heat can be very unpleasant, especially when the mercury rises high. Not only does the temperature become overwhelming, but it can also sabotage your hairstyle. Here are some tips to make sure your hair is always perfect during the summer season.

1. If you don’t have time to dry your hair after washing them, here is what to do

Knot them into a two-knot chic bun. This can be difficult to do when your hair is dry but it is very simple when your hair is wet and sleek. Style your wet hair into a ponytail and then divide it in two. Attach the strands into a knot by crossing one section on the other and by pulling them into each other. Repeat this again to make a double knot. Tuck the extremities in the bun and fix them with a few bobby pins.

2. Make a bun in the shape of an 8

Fix them into a low ponytail, twist it, then twist it around your finger all while holding the other extremity of your hair in the air. Then, wind the ponytail around the elastic and slip it under your curls. Fix your bun with some bobby pins. You can undo your bun when your hair has dried to have pretty waves.

3. Get nice waves

Make a loose braid. The looser the braid, the bigger the waves.

4. Here is another way to have nice waves

Make a separation in the centre of your head, twist the two sections around your face, and pin the extremities at the top of your head, keeping them twists. When your hair is dry, remove the pins and smooth out your curls with your fingers.

5. Twist them in a humid towel

Spray some water on a towel to humidify it, place it tightly around your head, then twist it before you sit down next to your pool. Once the towel is dry, remove it to have beach waves. Know that this will also help protect your hair from too much sun exposure.

6. Imitate the ocean salt mist with a homemade spray

Create your own salt spray with 20 ounces of Seltzer water and 1 teaspoons salt. Mix these two ingredients together and pour them into a spray bottle. Then, spray this saline spray from the extremities to the roots, making waves with your fingers, and then let them dry. If you need to make touch-ups after, roll some strands around a curling iron for a few seconds.

7. To avoid your hair from getting damaged by chlorine or salt water

Rinse them with sink water before going in the pool or the ocean. Your porous strands will absorb the water from the sink, preventing the chlorine and chemical-filled water or the salt water from damaging your hair. You can also apply a leave-in conditioner to get the same results before you jump in the pool or in the ocean.

8. If your bangs tend to get greasy because of sunscreen, here is what to do

Make a French or Dutch braid (a reversed French braid) so your face is free of flyaways. Place your bangs in your braid, then fix your braid with some pins.

9. Use a silk scarf to keep your hair far from your face

Take a silk scarf, adjust it around your head, be creative and create a look. You can make a knot, a bow, etc. This way, your face will be free of flyaways. This is a great trick when it is very hot outside.

10. Squeeze lemon juice into your hair and then brush them

When lemon juice, a citric acid, is exposed to the sun, it opens your hair’s cuticle and gives them very nice golden highlights.
